The NPD’s monthly results were posted yesterday, and both Microsoft and Sony have independently released their own statements regarding the Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.

Microsoft cheered the loudest, boasting 270,000 Xbox 360 units sold; up 39 percent from last year. Microsoft says that it has led the monthly console sales race the past 11 of 12 months.

Sony was less boistrous, but had its own good news to share. According to the company, sales are up 14 percent from last year. And remember, this was during the whole PSN debacle.

NPD analyst Anita Frazier noted that PSP sales also grew five percent in the month, but characterized sales of Nintendo’s 3DS as “light.” As of the time of this writing, Nintendo hadn’t officially commented on the month’s sales.
